The nonprofit Louisiana Appleseed Network has organized an event to provide free legal help for homeowners in Ascension, East Baton Rouge and Livingston parishes who were affected by the 2016 floods and are having problems proving they own their homes.
“Flood Proof: Legal Help for Homeowners with Title Problems” takes place:
Saturday, January 28 from 9 a.m. to noon
Southern University Law Center
2 Roosevelt Steptoe Drive
Baton Rouge, LA
Title problems can result in residents being denied federal assistance or other rebuilding funds. The Flood Proof event could be especially helpful for residents who live in a home given to them by an older or deceased relative.
Homeowners must have all required documents to get help.
For a complete list of those documents, along with resources on how to find them:
1. Log on to “Flood Proof: Legal Help for Homeowners with Title Problems” on Facebook.

3. Call (844) 244-7871
The Flood Proof event is made possible by sponsors and grants from the W. K. Kellogg Foundation and Baton Rouge Area Foundation.
